I’m a freelance writer and an advocate for student success. I hope to harness the power of language to provoke thought, create change, and present authentic experiences that resonate with people.
I grew up in Killeen, Texas, and I came from very humble beginnings. In 2016, I proudly became the first and only college graduate in my family, obtaining my Bachelor’s of Art in Political Science from Texas State University. In 2019, I received my Master’s in Education, also from Texas State University.
During my graduate program, I was an Academic Coach for the Career and Financial Education program on campus. In that role, I provided one-on-one consultations and classroom-instruction to undergraduates on soft-skills topics such as applying and interviewing for jobs, applying to graduate/law school, understanding student loans and finances, and post-graduate career planning. Working as an Academic Coach was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life; Watching my undergraduate students flourish in all aspects of their lives was exhilarating.
Currently, I am an Instructional Designer and Corporate Trainer. In this role, I design and implement curriculum for adult learners in corporate, supply chain, and logistics settings. One of the many things I love about my career in adult education is how many different aspects of education that it encompasses. I get to design, research, write, and educate; It combines all of my passions and interests.
When I’m not writing or working, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband and our two miniature dachshunds. I love nature photography, Texas History, and the San Marcos River.
